Our ViaLite products are used in teleports and earth stations around the world and in other facilities where it is necessary to carry radio signals over inter-facility or cross-site fiber optic links. Radio over fiber links offer significant performance and cost advantages over coaxial cable.
ViaLite RF over fiber links are designed specifically for L-band, 70/140MHz, GPS timing and wideband applications up to 3GHz. All of the links have been designed for installation and set up with the minimum of effort by the user.
L-BAND INTER-FACILITY LINKS
PPM's ViaLite wide-dynamic-range L-band inter-facility fiber optic link provides a high performance, high reliability, transparent cross-site connection between up/down converters and modems in satellite ground station equipment. The frequency band covers 950MHz to 2,150MHz.
70/140MHz INTER-FACILITY LINKS
Similar to the L-band fiber optic links in performance, the 70/140MHz Inter-facility links have a bandwidth of 10MHz to 200MHz.
GPS FIBER OPTIC LINKS
PPM's ViaLite GPS fiber optic links allow users to get the GPS timing signal from their antenna to the GPS receiver in situations where the two points are far apart. This is often necessary in large buildings or tunnels.
WIDEBAND FIBER LINKS
PPM's ViaLite broadband, wide dynamic range 2kHz to1,500MHz and 1MHz to 3GHz fiber optic links provide the same high performance transmission but also offer additional flexibility in terms of operational bandwidth.
VIALITE RF OVER FIBER LINKS: MECHANICAL CONFIGURATIONS
The ViaLite products are offered in a range of mechanical configurations designed to give the end user a perfect solution regardless of the installation requirements.
PPM's 19in, 3U high chassis houses up to eight optical transmitters and/or optical receivers plus main and reserve power supply modules. Our 19in, 1U high chassis houses up to three optical transmitters and/or optical receivers for users who have limited space in their equipment racks. Our single module converter sleeves are ideal for optical transmitters and/or optical receivers to be used as stand alone devices. This solution saves space and money.
PPM also offers environmental enclosures for outdoor applications.
ALARM MANAGEMENT IN OPTICAL TRANSMITTERS AND OPTICAL RECEIVERS
All optical transmitters and optical receivers within the ViaLite range of products produce alarm outputs indicating the condition of the modules. These alarm outputs are brought together in the 19in chassis and using the ViaLite Alarm Concentrator module they can be transmitted over fiber to the other end of the link and made available as an RS232 serial data output for use by the user's management and control systems.
SYSTEM REDUNDANCY IN SWITCH MODULES AND RF SPLITTER MODULES
The 19in, 3U high chassis is available with dual redundant power supplies. These are hot swappable, as are all of the ViaLite transmitter and receiver modules. PPM also offers redundancy switch modules and RF splitter modules allowing the customer to split the RF input signal and route it through two separate fiber links. The switch is then used to select the best link for transmission.
The switch can be controlled either automatically from the ViaLite rack alarm system or by the customer's control and management system. The splitters and switches are mechanically compatible with all the ViaLite housing options.
