At HUAWEI CONNECT 2020 in Shanghai , Huawei unveiled new products as a major upgrade to its enterprise-grade OptiX intelligent network solutions. These new products include the Huawei OptiXstar S892E, a smart optical terminal designed for high-speed backhaul of Wi-Fi 6 on the corporate campus, and the Huawei OptiXtrans E6600 series, the industry’s first optical transport platform with built-in Liquid OTN Technology (OTN, optical transport network). These innovative products are intended to improve the purely optical connection technology for the digital transformation of companies.

The intelligent OptiX network solution from Huawei focuses on three scenarios: the purely optical data center (Huawei DC OptiX), purely optical transport (Huawei Single OptiX) and the purely optical company location (Huawei Campus OptiX). Since its launch, the solution has been widely used in many industries including government, energy, transportation, finance, and manufacturing, and is used by more than 3800 enterprise customers in over 150 countries. This year Huawei has extensively updated its solution for the three scenarios. In purely optical data centers, artificial intelligence relieves the technical requirements of staff for operational maintenance (O&M) and enables IT engineers to manage CT devices. In purely optical transport, Huawei introduced Liquid OTN technology, which enables uniform transmission of all services and reduces latency by 30%. In turn, Huawei has introduced 40G PON technology in all-optical locations, which offers the industry's highest rate for high-speed Wi-Fi 6 backhaul for gigabit access.

During the event, Huawei presented two new products for the global all-optical campus and for all-optical transport scenarios:

The first product is the Huawei OptiXstar S892E, an intelligent optical terminal designed for backhaul of Wi-Fi 6 on the corporate campus.

Wi-Fi 6 is becoming more widespread in the enterprise wireless LAN market, but its high air interface rate of more than 10 Gbps puts pressure on the transmission bandwidth, reliability and provisioning efficiency of the transport network. The Huawei OptiXstar S892E is the industry's first optical terminal to support 40G-PON (Passive Optical Networks). It has fast protection switching and automatic configuration, and it effectively addresses these challenges. It is designed for high capacity Wi-Fi 6 backhaul in large-area environments such as businesses, schools, airports and stadiums, and has the following benefits:

High capacity:  The Huawei OptiXstar S892E uses the ultra-micro-aggregation algorithm to enable four times higher uplink and downlink bandwidth than its predecessor as well as congestion-free internet access on campus.

High availability:  The Huawei OptiXstar S892E has two optical 10GE connections that secure each other. Based on the intelligent active-active Type-C mechanism, key services can be identified in the event of a connection failure and connections can be switched within 50 ms to ensure that a service is always active.

Smart configuration:  Services can be provisioned automatically using the AI-based automatic configuration mechanism. As a result, the plug-and-play system of the device 100 can configure such optical terminals in one minute, which leads to a considerably higher provisioning efficiency.

The second product is the Huawei OptiXtrans E6600 series, which is used to build a high-speed transmission network that serves as infrastructure for vertical industries.

The energy, transportation, government, education, finance, and manufacturing industries are critical to a smart city. Communication networks not only have to simplify operation and maintenance work, they also have to meet information security requirements. The Huawei OptiXtrans E6600 series products are the industry’s first optical transport platform with integrated Liquid OTN technology. They are characterized by high reliability, high density and intelligent operating and maintenance functions, guarantee production services and enable the transmission of all services via a single network.

This has three major advantages:

High security:  Liquid OTN effectively secures company production and fulfills security requirements. In addition, the guaranteed device latency is less than 10 ms, which is sufficient for business-critical control systems.

High Density:  This product takes over the work of four previous devices and reduces physical footprint by 60%, making network management easier.

Intelligent operation and maintenance technology:  Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is supported, and iMaster NCE can be used for uniform management, control and analysis. The visualized discovery of network resources and the rapid delivery of services improve overall operational and maintenance efficiency by 30%, and the network health prediction function is 90% accurate.
